Completed at least one of the following specific analytical training programs: The Senior Crime Analysist works closely with senior managers throughout the Department to determine operational priorities but works with considerable independence in the analysis and preparation of tactical and strategic information. In addition, the Senior Crime Analyst supports criminal investigative activities for the purpose of crime reduction and the apprehension of offenders. The main responsibility of this position is to assist investigators by analyzing, preparing, and disseminating information and recommendations relevant to evolving and existing crime patterns and trends to forecast future crime occurrences. Under the direction of the Intelligence Section Sergeant, the Senior Crime Analyst identifies and monitors crime trends and patterns, chronic offenders and organized criminal groups within the District of Saanich.
